How to Engage With Your Audience

How to Engage With Your Audience

Can you remember a time before COVID-19 when you were at a live sporting event? There were probably thousands of other spectators there with you, but you personally had a memorable experience. Why? Because you have cheerleaders soliciting your voice to support your team, players hustling for the crowd and glory, an announcer excitedly reacting to those players, and you and other fans hugging and high-fiving over big plays.

All of this is orchestrated to create a positive and interactive experience so that you will want to come back and spend money. And the experience may not have been as fun or memorable if all those other factors weren’t involved, right? That’s why keeping your audience engaged is a game-changer (see what we did there?).

Before you spiral into a depression about missing live events, let’s examine ways to successfully engage with your audience.

Who is My Audience?

This seems like a no-brainer, but you first need to determine who you are trying to reach with your product and services. For example, selling hair cuts to a bald man doesn’t make any sense. However, the man with long scraggly hair might be interested in a fresh new cut. Figure out who you need to reach and everything can become more focused.

How do you find out who your audience is? Think about how old they are, where they work or what industries they work for, where they live, how much money they might make, and most importantly, what their problems are and how you can help them.

And remember, you can’t be everything to everyone. So narrow down your audience so you can have a solid strategy to keep them wanting to buy from you and refer you to more potential customers.

In What Way(s) Can I Engage With My Audience?

One of the best ways to reach your audience is through social media. Post information with links to your digital business card and what your company sells. You can also share, post, like, etc. content that is relevant to your audience.

Share reviews from former and/or current clients about their positive experience with you. Ask for reviews from former clients.

Integrate your Facebook Pixel with RepCard to keep their mind fresh about what you are selling.

Having a face-to-face conversation either in person or through video chat is incredibly effective as well. People want to talk with real people. Use your digital business card to send unique introductions and manage scheduled follow up texts. Include personalized videos to add a unique touch and remind people stay top-of-mind with clients.

Why Engage With My Audience?

You want to keep your audience engaged so you can sell, market, or influence whatever it is you are hoping to achieve. People will buy into ideas that they know, hear, or read about. Remember who your audience is and stay focused. This mindset will help you the next time you have an opportunity to engage.

Success will only come with effort. It’s your responsibility to convince your audience that they want whatever you are offering. Unless you are selling girl scout cookies, because everyone wants girl scout cookies.
